I came up with Undummer when I realized that many of my students didn't know their 12x tables

I tried to find an app that would drill them and then let me see how they were doing. I couldn't find anything that was really convenient...

so I decided to make my own

Do you know which Math Apps are the most popular on the market?

AI homework solvers

I don't have anything against AI homework solvers - in fact, I think they're great.

The problem arises when they are used not as an aid to thinking, but as an escape from thinking - just like using a calculator to figure out 8 x 7.

What is Undummer?

The platform provides a very new and valuable way to teach in today's world of smartphones
Undummer apps
Apps
By far, the most enjoyable way of studying is from a "game" perspective - where the task at hand is none too simple nor non too hard
Undummer's analytics
Analytics
Keep track of past performances, like a fitness app, and helps you see your progress. It helps you make goals, and that keeps the studying interesting.
Undummer's chat feature
Chat
Provides a forum for the student to show parents, teachers, friends their recent accomplishments. The place where the supporters can encourage the student to keep up their progress.
Good old fashioned work, and analysis of this work through a supportive social network brings about a very positive and productive energy

Apps in Undummer

You will always be able to find a level at that sweet spot - where you're confident you can do it, yet not quite sure how it's going to get done.

BINO: (Binomial Squaring)

Using (a+b)*(a+b) = a*a + 2ab + b*b, students can square any 2 digit number without using a calculator, eg:

472 = (40+7)x(40+7) = 40x40 + 2(40)(7) + 7x7
      = 1600 + 560 + 49
      = 1600 + 609
      = 2209

1 level, 79 exercises

This skill is learned in Grade 10.

PF: (Prime Finder)

The student is asked to determine whether a number is prime or composite. Numbers range from 2 – 1099. No evens (except for 2) or numbers ending in 5! (Too easy to see that they are composite)

12 levels, 40 exercises / level

Students learn about prime numbers in the 4th or 5th grade.

+ - X / (Basic Arithmetic Operations)

This one is where it all starts – so few students know up to their 12x tables these days. But it goes well beyond 12x12 – students (and parents!) will find that they can do many math calculations in their head involving larger numbers. Eg:

84 x 25 = 84 x (1/4) x 100
              = 21 x 100 = 2100

4 Operations, 12 levels, about 25 exercises / level

The 12x table is taught in the 4th grade, but this app quizes up the the 19x table and beyond.

Future Apps

New apps from different disciplines will be added every month, much like Netflix brings in its new movies every month. But Undummer will not be taking away the “old” apps - they will remain to build a rich variety of activities for students.

Higher levels of math, the periodic table in chemistry, important cycles in biology, sentence structure in English, are all planned as future apps for the Undummer platform. The key to keeping subscribers and bringing in new ones is to keep the platform new and relevant for anyone wishing to learn.
